Commercial litigation specialist joins leading South West law firm

A new partner has joined employee-owned Stephens Scown LLP, signifying an important step in the law firm’s strategic plans to further cement its position as a regional heavyweight.

The appointment of experienced litigation specialist and Taunton resident, Stephen Wray (pictured), who joined Stephens Scown’s Commercial Dispute Resolution team at the beginning of June, signifies an important step in the firm’s strategic plans to grow its client base.

Stephen’s existing links and vast experience will add significantly to the firm’s growth plans and their strong Dispute Resolution offering.

Stephen said: “I have been really impressed by the unrelenting importance Stephens Scown places on putting its clients first, and I look forward to bringing my experience, perspective and local knowledge to my new role while building on the firm’s brand awareness in Somerset.”

An experienced solicitor with over 22 years’ experience in litigation, Stephen has most recently been focusing on property and commercial disputes. A combination of industry experience, expertise, and existing contacts will enable the firm to further expand its brand awareness in Somerset.

Stephen is described by Legal 500 as having “a vast experience of acting for private clients and high net worth individuals” and in Chambers & Partners as a “tenacious litigator”, “he fights for his clients but does not fight for the sake of it, but to achieve results”.

Head of Commercial Dispute Resolution, Catherine Mathews, said: “Stephen has developed an excellent reputation for giving pragmatic and sound advice, and for being a meticulous and fierce negotiator. He also has strong network links in Somerset and will be a great asset to the firm. We look forward to welcoming him into the team.”
