Children’s charity Brainwave is holding a fundraising virtual balloon race from Lapland next month. For just £5 each, racers can buy a balloon and customise it before being able to track its progress from the launch on December 11 at 1pm, from Santa’s Village in Lapland.
The race is computer-simulated where everything is real except the balloon. The software uses current live weather data to determine the progress of each balloon – so no negative environmental impact on wildlife, climate change, plastic waste or litter!
The Brainwave virtual balloon race will finish at 1pm on Friday, December 18, with the winner receiving a seven-night family holiday with Eurocamp.
A spokesman for Brainwave said: “Some companies are gifting balloons to employees or sending them in lieu of Christmas cards to clients, and employees are buying for their families – children are loving getting involved as you can imagine!”
More information about the race and how to buy a balloon is available here.
