Chamber member Smart Quality Services has helped fellow member Footfall Lighting pass a crucial ISO 9001 recertification audit.
Ensuring the consistent output of quality products and delivering customer satisfaction is of paramount importance for any manufacturing business, so implementing and maintaining an effective ISO 9001 compliant Quality Management System (QMS) is the key foundation to achieving these goals.
Often however, companies underestimate the on-going work required to maintain the QMS and struggle to find sufficient internal resources and expertise to do this in-house.
This is exactly what happened in the case of Williton-based stainless steel LED hand-rail fabricator, Footfall Lighting.
“As Operations Manager of a small specialist manufacturer, I have to wear many hats and it can be a challenge keeping all the plates spinning,” explained Fee Bellamy, “We pride ourselves in delivering quality products for our customers and have held ISO 9001- 2015 certification since 2019.
“We were advised that I could either attend an ISO 9001 internal auditor course or bring in a specialist ISO consultant. We chose to go down the latter route and engaged with Smart Quality Services, with whom we had previously met through the Chamber’s manufacturing group, to provide a quarterly maintenance service to ensure we keep up-to-date with our internal auditing and thus relieving me of that pressure and being able to concentrate on maintaining the quality on the ground so to speak.”
Smart Quality Services, based in Bristol, is a specialist ISO consultancy company which helps businesses across all sectors to implement and maintain ISO 9001 and a number of other ISO standards including in the areas of Environmental, Health and Safety and Data Security, as well as providing compliance management software.
Richard Duff, Director at Smart Quality Services, said: “It’s been a pleasure working with Fee, John and the wider team at Footfall and I look forward to continuing to help them further enhance their QMS.”
