The 2018 Good Food Guide just published has ranked Castle Bow at the top level of Somerset’s restaurants, shared only with one other in the county.
Brazz, the Castle Hotel’s casual restaurant has also received recognition in the 2018 guide, with its first full listing.
Published by Waitrose, the Good Food Guide lists the best restaurants in Great Britain. After a recent visit to Taunton’s own, Castle Bow restaurant, the guide described head chef Liam Finnegan’s cooking as “modern: seasonal, simple and confident, backed up by pin-sharp service”, saying that his Dexter beef was “utterly delicious”.
When asked about his recent achievement, Liam Finnegan commented, “We are proud to be ranked as one of the South West’s highest rated restaurants. None of it would have been possible without my great team and some amazing local suppliers.”
Finnegan, who has been Head Chef at the Castle for the last five years, is the latest in a long line of award-winning chefs to head the hotel kitchen – which have been run by the Chapman family for 67 years. Top quality food and the very best local suppliers have always been of the greatest importance to the Castle’s restaurants.
Proprietor Kit Chapman said “I’m absolutely delighted. Liam and his brigade are a terrific team and I’m enormously proud of them.”
