West Country Blacksmiths has been commissioned to create five bespoke trophies for a charity challenge which will be held in West Somerset and Exmoor at the beginning of June.
Teams from all over the country will compete in the triathlon-style event organised by Samworth Brothers – with winners taking home one of the five stunning stags head trophies made by West Country Blacksmiths.
The team is based at Allerford Forge at heart of the National Trust’s Holnicote estate on the edge of Exmoor.
Kieren Roberts, West Country Blacksmiths company director, said: “We feel privileged to have been approached to produce the five trophies for the charity challenge and it has been a pleasure to design them.
“When we were asked to create a trophy which represented Exmoor we had many ideas, including Exmoor ponies or simply the beautiful Exmoor scenery but, from the concepts we produced, the stag was unanimously chosen by all involved in the event.
“The stags are fully handmade from steel and mounted onto slices of wind felled wood from the Holnicote Estate to make every part of the trophies truly Exmoor.”
Alison Rudkin, of Samworth Brothers, added: “We are so pleased that we were recommend to West Country Blacksmiths by the local community as the metalwork they have produced for us is absolutely stunning and better than we could have ever imagined. It’s been a privileged to work with such a talented team of tradesmen.”
