Somerset-based Innovation by Design (Coll-Cats Ltd) has partnered with Yeovil College to offer an apprenticeship to a young person.
Innovation by Design is a family-owned business that specialises in renovations, extensions and new build developments alongside their private and commercial plumbing and electrical division across the South West of England. 
Managing Director, Patrick Coll (pictured), said: “At Innovation by Design, we are delighted to have teamed up with Yeovil College to recruit an apprentice plumber. I am very pleased to be able to invest in the future of a young person, through an apprenticeship, by enabling them to learn much needed skills and in turn, to help use those skills within my own work force.”
Nationally, there is a skill shortage in this field. In 2018, the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) found that demand for skilled plumbers, electricians and plasterers is outstripping supply. Innovation by Design is trying to help by employing 17 tradesmen and now recruiting their first apprentice.
Apprenticeships provide a great foundation for a successful career. They are an ideal option if you have a clear idea of the career path you want to follow, providing you with practical, on-the-job training, and classroom-based instruction.
The successful candidate will learn all aspects of plumbing, giving them the opportunity to be skilled in all area, progressing to Level 3 plumbing qualification with the opportunity to remain in a permanent role within an exciting and growing business.
