A strong candidate focus earns NRL’s website a win at the NORAs

NRL’s technical engineering recruitment business is celebrating winning a National Online Recruitment Award thanks to a new website, which was launched in December 2020.

Recognising that the NRL Group, the parent owner to the recruitment business, had outgrown their legacy site, a range of new websites were launched to support businesses within the Group – including overhauling and relaunching the recruitment website nrl.co.uk.

Keen to ensure the site was centred around the candidate and their online experience, NRL partnered with leading industry experts Volcanic, an Access company, to build a completely new website.

As part of the NORA award application process a panel of judges reviewed the site from a candidate’s perspective, making use of the new functionality which includes applying for roles using LinkedIn, dynamic job search filtering and a dedicated candidate dashboard to manage job searches.

Since launching the new website NRL have seen an 81% increase in new registrations through the Volcanic platform, with visitors spending 85% more time on the site than in the previous year on the legacy site. The number of pages viewed whilst on the site has also increased by 73%.

NRL’s Group Head of Marketing, Ruth Davey, said: “Our Recruitment website is extremely important to us and we know our candidates want the ease of quickly applying for roles online, at a time that’s convenient to them. That’s why when it came to designing our new site, we wanted to centre it around the candidate and how they would want to use it.

“We’re immensely proud of the new website we have developed with the support of Volcanic, and the judges’ recognition of this hard work at the recent NORA celebratory evening is fantastic to achieve.”
