SWALLOW is a user-led charity supporting over 170 teenagers and adults with learning disabilities based in Midsomer Norton, Somerset. The life changing support we provide includes: independent living training, one-to-one outreach support, supported housing, employment training and support, therapeutic courses, sports and social activities. SWALLOW is the only charity supporting people with learning disabilities in the local area that has this breadth and depth of support, and we are pleased to be rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission and ‘Outstanding’ in Responsiveness. In 2023, we were proud to celebrate our 30th Anniversary.
At SWALLOW we provide a safe, supportive space for individuals to build confidence, explore their passions and interests and gain valuable, transferrable skills to enable them to live their lives to the full and actively engage in their local communities.
SWALLOW is user led and that means that our members are at the heart of everything we do. Our Management Committee of 12 members with learning disabilities meets regularly to feed back to our Trustees and generate ideas for the future. We have an Annual Evaluation Day where all members are invited to attend, give feedback and make plans for the year ahead.
