Training workshop - How to manage challenging conversations

This workshop builds skills and confidence in preparing and holding productive conversations to address performance concerns and/or interpersonal issues and to support improvement and resolution.

It’s recommended for anyone who:

* Manages teams and/or projects and is responsible for providing feedback and supporting individuals to improve their performance or change behaviours that are impacting on performance and/or business delivery
* Would like to gain skills and confidence in managing challenging conversations and resolution
It is a rare person who doesn’t find potentially challenging conversations a little daunting . . . but honest feedback and authentic discussions are key to healthy team-dynamics and a productive environment at work

In this half-day workshop, we will explore why we might feel some apprehension in/towards conversations where we need to address interpersonal issues or performance concerns and then provide plenty of tools, frameworks and practice opportunities to enhance skills in this area.

Attendees should leave the workshop with renewed confidence and a clear plan for how they will hold and manage challenging conversations in the future . . . and maybe even worry a little less when they do!

Attendees will focus on:
 * Identifying why we might feel apprehensive about challenging conversations and utilise relevant strategies
* Techniques for preparing feedback and holding challenging conversations
* Identifying and assessing their own repertoire of tools and techniques – moving from frameworks to application
* Applying the content to relevant scenarios and their own workplace contexts
* Identifying next steps and action planning

Key content for this workshop includes:
* Connection and rapport – why challenging conversations can cause anxiety
* Authentic conversations – the importance of congruence between content and delivery
* Dynamics of interactions – what is happening under the surface and how can we manage this? * The coaching spectrum and situational leadership – the choices of approach and matching context
* Fundamentals of feedback – how do we ensure it is constructive and productive? * Frameworks for challenging conversations – and making them ‘our own’ * Examples and application – to a range of relevant scenarios and workplace challenges * Action planning – aligned with planned learning transfer and action learning opportunities

At Green Door, we love delivering training that packs a punch – our approach is vibrant and fun but underpinned by hard-headed science about how people learn best. Not to mention a laser-like focus on what difference it will make.
Our programmes are designed and delivered with a commitment to accelerated learning principles – expect creativity, choice, and a focus on application. Choice is central to how we work. Everyone learns differently, so our delivery and content will always be dynamic, varied and interactive.
