Skills for Business: Managing Difficult Conversations with Rowan Consulting

In an ever complicated and complex world of dealing with people and human emotion we keep things simple.
Rowan HR will be joining us on March 12, to help you enhance the organisational performance of your business, by working with you on the human aspects of running a business.
This session is primarily aimed at business owners, managers, team leaders and HR professionals who may have to face difficult discussions with individuals and teams and want to be braver in having and handling those conversations.
This will ultimately help your people grow and your business to reach its full potential.
Difficult conversations aren’t for everyone, in this session you’ll learn how to

  • Prepare for a difficult conversation, by using a simple framework for planning and holding the meeting and conversation
  • Improve communication by asking the right questions, whilst honing listening skills
  • Observe without judgement, find common ground and deliver feedback that lands
  • Banish your nerves and remain calm and in control no matter how difficult the conversation
  • How to create a culture of honest conversations that drive individual and team improvement whilst understanding what triggers you and discover how to overcome those feelings to facilitate crucial conversations
  • Create new habits and learn how to collaborate to make positive changes that last
  • Take the time to practice your new skills so you feel ready and prepared

Topics that will be discussed during the workshop will include:

  1. Understanding why as humans we shy away from having difficult conversations.
  2. Using three simple frameworks and tools
  3. Identifying and reframing difficult behaviours
  4. The confidence to hold difficult conversations with your employees that achieve a win – win for both you and your employee, mitigating costly grievance and/or disciplinary processes

This workshop will be delivered by Karen Watkins, of Rowan HR.
Rowan HR,
Everything we do at Rowan is underpinned by our commitment to help business owners and leaders to enhance the organisational performance of their business.
We do this in three ways

  • HR, the practical day to day approach
  • Developing leaders, through our coaching and leadership programmes
  • Structuring the business, for growth and change

We believe in a relationship built on

  • Clarity
  • Simplicity
  • Trust

These values are key to our success, owning or managing a business is hard enough, let’s not overcomplicate things, we build trust, offer complete clarity and we keep things simple, we will never over complicate or confuse our clients.
