We will be hearing from Paul Hickson – Service Director for Economy, Employment and Planning, and Dr James Gilgrist – Head of Economic Prosperity at Somerset Council.
Guest speaker Paul Hickson
Paul is the Service Director for economy, employment and planning at Somerset Council and previous to the formation of the new council worked for Somerset County Council as the Strategic Manager for economy and planning. Paul has lived in Somerset for most of his life and shares the joys and anxieties of all who follow the fortunes of Somerset County cricket club.
Guest speaker Dr James Gilgrist
James has called Wellington, Somerset, home for most of his life. With an academic background in political economy, James has worked in economic development for more than a decade, including having spent four years as Somerset’s senior economist. He is now the Head of Economic Prosperity for Somerset Council, with responsibility for helping to deliver the council’s ambition of a ‘flourishing and resilient Somerset’. Outside of work you might to see James on his bicycle, holding up traffic on the A38.
