The Somerset Care Group was launched in 1991, and has five principal areas of business activity.

Somerset Care Ltd provides residential
and nursing care for older people in 26 care homes in Somerset, and 1 in Gloucestershire.

Care at Home (Somerset Care at Home Ltd) provides personal care and assistance for 4000 people living in their own homes in Somerset, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset, and Gloucestershire.

Isle Care (Isle Care 97 Ltd) provides residential care for older people and adults with learning disabilities on the Isle of Wight.

Acacia Training & Development Ltd
provides courses and skills development programmes
for company staff and external purchasers across the South West.

Echoes Community Care Ltd provides
personal care and assistance for people
living in their own homes in Hampshire, Portsmouth, Berkshire and West Sussex.

Acacia Training and Development
• In February 2005 this new company was formed from 3 existing companies: CETS in Plymouth, Ethos in Newton Abbott and Horizon Training in Taunton.
• The company is now one of the largest providers of vocational training in the South West.
• In Devon and Cornwall the emphasis is on providing Modern Apprenticeships in a wide variety of occupational areas and NVQ training for adults.
• From the Horizon Centre in Taunton the Company offers NVQ training, specialist courses, statutory training, leadership and management development and consultancy support to public and private sector organisations.

Somerset Care
• 26 nursing and residential care homes throughout Somerset, and 1 in Gloucestershire.
• We provide 1100 places in our homes with specialist provision for elderly mentally infirm, intermediate and respite care.
• The current development programme will increase the number of places offered to 1450 by 2008.
• We are working in partnership with Somerset County Council on the development of services for adults with physical disabilities.

Care At Home
• 18,000 hours of domiciliary care delivered to clients within their own homes throughout Somerset, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset, and Gloucestershire.
• We cater for the needs of older people and younger adults with physical or learning disabilities.

Isle Care
• We operate four homes for older people on the Isle of Wight.
• The homes offer residential care and specialist care for older people with dementia.
• Plans are being developed for a major investment programme to modernise and extend these homes including the creation of extra care housing units.
• We also operate 14 homes for adults with learning disabilities where we are working with Social Services and housing partners to modernise and develop the service, responding ever more effectively to the individual personal life choices and aspirations of those in our care.

Echoes Community Care
• Echoes provides approximately 3,000 hours of domiciliary care services in Hampshire, Portsmouth and Berkshire.
• The company is continuing to expand its services throughout the Hampshire and West Sussex region, offering reliable, high quality and innovative care for people in their own homes.
